Stephan Gill
Stephen Gill was born in the uk and his creative ability seemed from a young age. He and his dad regularly collected insects and pend life from the wild, which Gill would inspect under his microscope. This background is clearly shown in his work as it both mimics the intricacy and contrast of science and colourful inspiration from wild life. Gill was born in 1971 in Bristol, UK. In 1985 Gill started working at a local photography studio whilst still at school. He took most of his inspiration from his urban English surrounding but later in life has moved to Sweden.
Shirin Neshat
This Persian artist and Photographer explores the force of women in Allah through her Photography it shows the ideas of feminism in Islamic fundamentalism and military. This is shown from her portraits of women covered in beautiful Persian calligraphy.
Neshat is one of four children born of a wealthy family in western Iran. Her parents brought her up in a warm welcoming muslim community, which was introduced to her by her religious grandparents. The influence of the Western world in her life is heavy as in her on opinion her parents "romanticised" western ideals and therefore gradually lost their own beliefs and personality.
Her ideals of the force of women is obviously shown in all her art and specifically her photography. It has been featured in the guardian and she often shows her views and art in the western world.

Man vs Nature
In this task I was aiming to capture photographs of nature interacting with or taking over buildings/structures.
First response
www; I managed to capture many pictures.
ebi; the pictures were brighter, closer and clearer.

favourite shots & edited
Second response
www; the pictures are very colourful and bright, also in focus.
Force of nature homework.
For this task i was asked to develop taking photographs of nature interacting or taking over infrastructure.
www; the use of texture in the nature and comparisons of man made infrastructure made it interesting.
ebi; I took more photos in different locations and I could of focused on more ideas such as different levels.

Link Artist- Nadar Kander
In this sector, I was inspired by Nadav Kander who is a London-based photographer, known for his portraiture and landscapes. Kander has produced a number of books and had his work exhibited widely. He received an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society in 2015, and won the Prix Pictet award.

Force of architecture
Link Artist - Simon Phipps
Phipps uses photography to portray UK architecture and brutalist design, his view on the subject sheds a new, unique light on it. He mainly studies present post 1945 modernist British architect photographs. He prints his work, not on prints, but rather on aluminium substrate to create the ideas of the materials used to create the buildings. He follows the narrative of the project that it was to rebuild Britain after WW2, He recognizes the architectural merit of rebuilding a city with new ideas and a drastic take on how we as a city should live in the future, in concrete.

In this task I aimed to create intensity by taking photographs of architecture using different perspective and viewpoints. (low, high viewpoints, close up perspectives.

Link Artist- Shinischi Higashi
While it’s not immediately clear that Higashi has flipped a photo and then merged it, after a few seconds, you start to notice the small details, like the exact placement of the buildings or the rushing cars. In these photos there isn't much natural light as the photo is taken at night and most of this area is industrial so the light is coming from street lamps or from cars which can clearly be seen in this photo as that is the whole point in this photo, to show how light looks when it is taken with a slow shutter speed. The artificial lights form ribbons of colour that are magnificent to look at.
Applied Force/ White paper test.
This task was to choose a range of different media and materials and experiment using a range of different forces on them.
First response
www; I enhanced the idea of choosing paper as a material to apply different force onto. I curved and shaped the sheet of paper into different designs to grasp more detail when capturing the pictures. Using different perspectives (close ups and different angles) really helped to concentrate and focus the camera on the paper.
ebi; I could of looked into coloured paper to sculpt to add a interesting effect to my response and also could of chose to develop another strand including different materials.

Link Artist- Francois Dellafosse
I was inspired by Francois Dellafosse's techniques in taking these Photographs. I liked the fact that its only a scrunched up plastic bag but it gives off so much more than that. Its interesting and very creative as it gives a different effect in each picture. One looks like mountains, then caves then a wave.
Force of movement
Aiming to make gifs.
www; On my first attempt to create a gif i managed to do it by using Photoshop to put all the photos on the contact sheet together. As it was my first time creating a gif I am quite pleased with my result .
ebi; If i experimented a bit more with it and could of made some with my model moving into different directions .

Second response to making gifs
www; I changed the postion of the model as in direction. Would of been better if if was in focus.
Link Artist- Eadweard Muybridge
Eadweard Muybridge was an English-American photographer important for his pioneering work in photographic studies of motion, and early work in motion-picture projection. Here are some of his work:
3 strands
First strand - Light Painting
First response
www; I succeeded with caputuring and editing my light painting pictures with glo in the dark glosticks.
ebi; If used more colours and increased the amount of pictures taken.
ebi; If used more colours and increased the amount of pictures taken.
Second response
www; I developed the idea of light painting and instead of using a glo stick i thought using a torch in the dark would look more interesting. I even created a gif within taking these picutres.
Second Strand - Force of Nature
In this strand i developed my force of nature pictures and edited them using the original colours within the leaves/flowers. I thought this development really brought out the contrast within the nature. I used photoshop to add the pictures together and filled in the gap with the colour chosen from the flower or leaf. The close up pictures really helps to bring out the vibrant colours and detail of this.
Third Strand - Ink in water
Link artist- Alberto Seveso is a graphic artist, born in Milan and now working in Bristol, UK as a freelance artist. His passion for graphic art started in the early 90's. Here are some of his photographs.
In this piece I developed my ink in water for my final strand. To create these images, I filled up a jug of water and placed it on a table. I put different colours of ink into the water. I set up a tripod connected to my camera and as the ink slowly dripped more into the water I started capturing the pictures. In some images, I also made sure there was direct sunlight hitting the jug so it gives more of a vibrant effect. I put up a blank piece of white paper behind the jug so that when I take the pictures it would be more concentrated on the water instead of the background, also it helps with the focus on the image. Some mixtures of colours are very effective especially the primary colours.
